Photo manipulation

This was a drawing I did for Illustration fundamentals. It's the only picture I have of it and of course it was destroyed shortly after the picture. Either it was a cat a dog or coffee that ruined it. I drew it from memory of one I once drew previously from a bench at Olbrich park a few years ago (2006? also long gone).
The bench in this sites header.

I first transformed the board to a rectangle using guides and transformation then clone stamped out the legs of the tripod. I cut out the board using the pen tool to make the selections. Then I did some copy and pasting to get the bottom of the board looking better. After that some stamping and patching to get things more uniform. Last I put a bevel and emboss on it and a drop shadow.

Web Design

I've had my head in design more than development today. Thanks to having some modular grids that will help with arrangement of coding. I've had "Making and Breaking the Grid" by Timothy Samara sitting on my book shelf for a year laughing at me because it knew I needed it's help. When I started out in design school I thought I could make something look good no matter what it was. Wrong! There are defiantly some rules to follow and paying attention to what type of grid you use is very important as well as other design fundamentals.

Photoshop

Before
After

  • First using the pen tool I removed the background and replaced the background with clouds
  • Using the clone stamp I removed the "oliver" logo and paper marker on the side of the tractor
  • Selecting the Red rims of the wheels I used color replacement along with hue and saturation adjustments
  • replacing the "John Deere" logo I transformed it with perspective. then using the dodge tool to match the lighting of the contour of the tractor
  • Also I clone stamped out the "oliver" on the front of the grill
